New Tremor FX Technology Lets Audience Feel the Action of a Movie with Active Theater Seating, Will Launch at CinemaCon
- Specially Designed Tremor FX Theater Chairs React to a Film’s Soundtrack with Vibrations and Pulsations, Creating Immersive Entertainment Experience
- Seats Engineered to Respond Directly to Any Film’s Soundtrack, Eliminating the Need for Individual Programming
- RedSeat Entertainment Teamed With Seating Concepts to Build and Distribute the Tremor FX Chairs
SALT LAKE CITY (April 17, 2012) – RedSeat Entertainment today announced the launch of Tremor FX, a new theater seat technology that incorporates dynamic vibration into movies and other entertainment. The company will unveil the proprietary, patent-pending technology at the 2012 CinemaCon April 23–26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The company has teamed up with Seating Concepts to build and distribute the Tremor FX seats, which vibrate and pulsate in response to a film’s individual soundtrack through a series of actuators built within each seat. These vibrations occur in tandem with the action in the film, adding an extra layer of engagement for movie-goers.
“What truly sets TremorFX apart is the fact that our technology works seamlessly with any movie, so there is no lag time between when new films are released and when viewers can enhance their enjoyment with the Tremor FX seats,” said Joseph Sorenson, CEO of RedSeat Entertainment. “Movie lovers have been clamoring for the next evolution in the shared cinema experience, and what we’ve essentially done is create an immersive experience for the masses. The potential for this technology isn’t limited to movies, but also has applications in other areas like concerts and gaming, which really makes Tremor FX the next evolution in entertainment.”
Tremor FX chairs are the same size as standard theater chairs, simplifying and streamlining the theater conversion process, and a modular design allows for easy upgrades and repairs to individual seats. The control box for an entire theater of seats takes up minimal space in the projection room and is smaller than a desktop computer tower. The seats are easy to integrate with any theater configuration with a low voltage wire and a communication cable. Additionally, Tremor FX technology responds directly to the audio signals embedded in the film’s existing soundtrack, eliminating the need for a separate track to program the chair to react appropriately to each new film.
“We’ve engineered these chairs in such a way that the motion enhances the cinematic experience, but doesn’t distract from what is happening on the screen,” Sorenson added. “Tremor FX will transform the whole film industry by making movie goers feel as if they are actually part of what they are watching.”
