RedSeat Entertainment Sees Positive Consumer Response to First Domestic Installation of Tremor FX Chairs at Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatre
- 21 Tremor FX Chairs Are Now Available at Megaplex Gateway in Salt Lake City
- Tremor FX Chairs Provide Dynamic Vibrations in Response to a Movie Soundtrack for a Fully Immersive Theater Experience
- Average Occupancy Rate for Tremor FX Seats Nearly Doubles that of Standard Seats
SALT LAKE CITY (April 20, 2014) – RedSeat Entertainment, in conjunction with CinemaCon 2015, today announced that the first domestic installation of its Tremor FX active theater seats at the Megaplex Gateway in Salt Lake City has been a resounding success, with the theater seeing an average occupancy rate for the Tremor FX seats that nearly doubles that of the rate for standard seating.
The Megaplex theater has installed a total of 21 Tremor FX chairs to date, which use Tremor FX technology to enhance engagement for moviegoers by incorporating dynamic vibrations into movies. A series of actuators are built into each seat that respond to audio signals embedded in a film’s individual soundtrack, causing the chair to vibrate and pulsate in tandem with the action in the film.
“The Tremor FX chairs add another level of sensory experience, making viewers feel like they are truly part of what is happening on screen,” said Jeff Whipple, Megaplex Theatres vice president of marketing. “We had been looking for a way to provide options that enhance the movie watching experience for our customers, and the response we’ve seen so far to these chairs has been incredible. It’s clear the immersive experience has really resonated with our customers, and we anticipate adding more dynamic seating to our other theaters to give more of our customers access to this technology.”
Tremor FX chairs were designed for easy installation and retrofitting, making it possible for theaters to upgrade seating without significant disruptions to daily operations. The chairs are the same size as standard theater chairs, and the control box for an entire theater of seats takes up less space than a standard desktop computer tower in the projection room.
“Today’s consumer has increasingly high expectations for watching a movie, so movie theaters need to find ways to give their customers a unique experience they can’t get anywhere else,” said Joseph Sorenson, CEO of RedSeat Entertainment. “Our Tremor FX chairs are not only providing a way for viewers to feel more fully involved in the story, but they are a great option for theaters because they don’t require extra programming after a film is released and offer a high return on investment.”
In addition to the Megaplex theater, RedSeat Entertainment has also installed Tremor FX chairs at theaters in Russia and the Dominican Republic.
Tremor FX will be showcasing this technology during CinemaCon 2015. For more information about the technology, visit tremorfx.com. For more information about pricing and to purchase seating, contact Seating Concepts at sales@seatingconcepts.com.
